Since the beginning of the world and for centuries humanity has wondered about the meaning of life. This philosophical question has not only been on the minds of philosophers but on the minds of each and everyone of us. I'm sure most if not all people have asked themselves the meaning of their existence. Ancient Greek philosophers like Plato, Socrates and others spent most of their lives looking for the answer to this question and I'm afraid most of them died still trying to find that answer. All these men were lovers of wisdom (Sofia) and they have been of great influence in history and in the educational systems. So basically we have all been indoctrinated by the educational system to think Greek; over-analyzing and complicating things in the search for worldly wisdom. We have been blinded from the truth. (2 Corinthians 4:4)
There's nothing wrong with being a truth-seeker and wanting to be enlightened but there is a false truth and a false light out there. ( 2 Corinthians 11:14)
Jesus said that He is the truth, He did not say that He was a truth. So truth is not found on the exterior, out there in the world but truth is found in Christ. Everything outside of Jesus is a deception and lies from the devil. Remember that Satan was once a cherubim angel called lucifer ( the light-bearer) and he likes to counterfeit the truth and to pervert God's word to lead people into destruction. Satan is also said to have had and still has a lot of wisdom which he will gladly offer you in order to distract you from seeking God, he's wisdom which is the wisdom of this world blinds you. This wisdom leads a person to sin against God and to rebel against His authority. (Ezekiel 28)
Sin is what separates us from God and since God is holy and cannot have sin in His presence, while we are in sin we can not have a relationship with Him. God in His love gave us a free will to choose to love and obey Him, He does not force us to love Him because that wouldn't be genuine love. We have therefore been given a choice, to choose life and not death. To choose blessings and not cursing. (Deuteronomy 30:19)
You can choose to be rebellious and be a child of the devil or you could choose to repent from your wicked ways and God will then adopt you into His family.
God is only Father to those that love and obey Him. God loves all His creation and He doesn't want to see any of us perish, He knows what's best for us and keeps calling those who are in sin to turn from their ways. God is long-suffering and merciful and He loved us so much that He became flesh. He lowered Himself and became a servant. (Philippians 2:6-8)
Jesus Christ being the image of the invisible God lived a perfect and sinless life even though being in the flesh, He faced temptations just like us. He was not only tempted but He went through everything we go through. (Matthew 4:1, Hebrews 5:2)
-Jesus is the way:
God gave us His only begotten Son to die for our sins. He took the punishment that we deserved. Only through the blood of Jesus Christ can we be redeemed from the bondage of sin and be reconciled with God. (John 14:6, Acts 4:12, Colossians 1:13-14, Titus 2:13-14, Psalm 111, Ephesians 5:2, 1 Corinthians 6:20, Psalm 107, Romans 5:8)
-Jesus is the truth:
We can not know the truth outside of Jesus Christ because He is the truth and we have it is only when we submit to His authority that we find truth and wisdom. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. (Psalm 111:10,Proverbs 3:5-6, John 14:6)
-Jesus is the life:
.Jesus is the source of life, He is the creator and without Him we have no life. In order to know the meaning an purpose of life, we need to come to Christ who is life. (John 14:6,Colossians 1:16-17, John 1:1-4, Isaiah 9:6, Hebrews 1:1-3)
This is the meaning of life:
- To love and fear the Lord; the word of God is clear about the duty of man and that is to Fear God and to keep His commandments. We were created for the glory of God. We are to seek God's kingdom and His righteousness first and all else will be added unto us. (Ecclesiastes 12:13, Matthew 6:33, Isaiah 43:7, Job 28:28)
1. Why are we here? What are we here for?
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. (Ecclesiastes 12:13)
Fear God and give Him glory, for the hour of judgement is come: and worship Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. (Revelation 14:7)
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. (Matthew 22:37-39)
2. What is the origin of life?
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. (Genesis 1:1)
And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. (Genesis 2:7)
The heavens are thine, the earth also is thine: as for the world and the fullness thereof, thou hast founded them. The north and the south thou hast created them: Tabor and Hermon shall rejoice in thy name. (Psalm 89:11-12)
The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life. (Job 33:4)
For thus saith the Lord, that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord; and there is none else. (Isaiah 45:18)
3. What is the reason to live? what are we livin g for?
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. (Genesis 1:27-28)
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Romans 12:1-2)
Wether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. ( 1 Corinthians 10:31)
