Even though man fell and disobeyed God, the Lord in His mercy and love promised him and his offspring a deliverer who would come to save us from our sins and reconcile us back to God. The devil knew of the plan of salvation that God had for mankind and he has been trying through many means to stop this plan.
It is clear when you read the Bible to see that there are two spirits; the Spirit of Christ and the spirit of antichrist.
The Spirit of Christ brings life eternal by setting us free from death while the spirit of antichrist only brings bondage which eventually leads to death and eternal separation from God.
While I was reading the book of Exodus, about Moses who was chosen by God to deliver the Israelites from the bondage of Egypt, I saw a good example of these two spirits.
When Moses ( Spirit of Christ ) was born the Pharaoh ( spirit of antichrist) at the time had given a command that all new born Hebrew baby boys should be killed, Moses was among those that were supposed to be killed but God saved him and kept him from the hand of Pharaoh.
Moses was called and anointed by God with His Spirit to be a deliverer, and Satan not knowing exactly who the promised deliverer, tried to stop all those that came by the power of the Spirit of God.
When Jesus was born, king Herod also being under the spirit of antichrist gave the same command as the Pharaoh but again God showed His sovereignty by keeping Jesus from getting killed.
Moses like many other elders and prophets of God kept the flock as a shepherd for his father-in-law Jethro. Just like the elders in the church are supposed to keep the flock of the Father. Those who operate under the Spirit of Christ protect, feed and lead the sheep as a shepherd. Jesus is the good shepherd, the shepherd of our souls. ( John 10:11, Psalm 23, 1 Peter 5:1-4)
Moses was given power by God to perform miracles but was rejected by the Pharaoh and the Egyptians. Jesus also who came performing miracles was rejected by the religious leaders, the more he performed miracles the harder their hearts became.
The spirit of antichrist keeps people bound to works, while the Spirit of Christ brings rest and takes people's burdens away.
Moses was a foreshadow and a type of Jesus that was sent by God to free His people in the land of Egypt. Egypt being a type of this world and the king of Egypt (Pharaoh) being a type of the god of this world – the Pharaoh’s were worshiped as gods in ancient Egypt. The king of Egypt was stripped of his power and God threw him down and made a fool of him in front of his people just like God is going to strip Satan of his power and He’s going to cut him down before the people (Exodus 14:17-18, Isaiah 14:12).
Satan’s goal has always been to be like the Most High and everyone that follows after his footsteps also wants that same exaltation. God has hardened the heart of Satan for a season to show forth His glory and sovereignty in due time; He is the Lord God Almighty and beside Him there is no god! (Isaiah 44:6) In the time of Moses when He was sent to free the children of Israel from the bondage of Egypt, God also hardened Pharaoh’s heart for a season. He did this to show that all their gods were no gods and God threw Pharaoh down. Pharaoh just like Satan had refused to open the house of the prisoners and to let them go. ( Exodus 9:35, Isaiah 14:17)
